AWARD Proceeds from 2018’s silent auction will fund a cash artist award. The recipient of the Central Park Artist Award will be selected based on the merit of a project proposal detailing how the award will be used to create a new original artwork. To be considered for the award, artists must submit a proposal of 350 words or less to the gallery by Jan 01. Only artists who have contributed work to the silent auction may apply for the award. So bring your best stuff! What you contribute to the silent auction directly impacts the value of the award. A panel of artists and arts professionals will review the proposals and determine the award recipient. The selection panel will be announced in early January. The award recipient will be announced on St. Valentine’s Day 2019 and will have the opportunity to show the work produced with the award funds at Central Park in 2020.
Artists interested in submitting proposals can find the prompt below. Proposals can also be copied into the body of an email.
WORK VALUE AND RESERVES Artwork submissions will be capped at a $100 reserve price. The reserve price is the lowest opening bid for an artwork. Please submit artwork with this in mind, but remember, the higher the value of the work submitted, the larger the potential sum of the artist award. Work with reserve prices less than $100, or no reserve price, will be gladly accepted.
